Gluten-Free Cookbooks

***Incomplete***

Here's a list of the cookbooks that I have either read or perused and my thoughts on them.

Gluten Free Girl and the Chef by Shauna and Danny Ahern
I love Shauna's website and I loved the story of this book.  I would buy this book just to show my appreciation for all she's taught me through her blog posts.  As far as owning this from a cookbook standpoint, ahhh, not so much.  As she herself says, there are only 10 baking recipes in the book, so if baking is your passion, this is probably not the book for you.  That said,

Cooking for Isaiah by Silvana
Beings that she is cooking for her kids and I have 4, there were quite a few recipes in here that I would like to try and that my kids thought looked good.  However, her blend has no nutritional value so I would definitely have to made alterations on every recipe.

Artisanal Gluten-Free Cooking by Bronski

The Allergen-Free Baker's Handbook by Cybele Pascal
This book is not actually a necessity for my family and me but my daughter had a sleepover and one of her friends is gluten, dairy, soy and nut free so this book came in handy!  The chocolate chip cookies were a big hit as were the graham crackers (for s'mores, of course).  We actually liked her graham crackers better than the ones we baked using a recipe from glutenfreegirl.com.  I also like that her mix is made with brown rice (a whole grain) so there is some nutritional value.

1000 Gluten-Free Recipes by Carol Fenster
This was the first gluten free cookbook I bought.  The sheer size of it just makes me want to curl up by the fire and thumb through it, daydreaming about trying this muffin or that cake.

Gluten-Free Baking: More than 125 Recipes for Delectable Sweet and Savory Baked Goods...by Rebecca Reilly
I'll admit there are a number of recipes in the book that speak to me.  Then I look at the ingredients, look at my hips, which aren't fitting so well in my pants, and I decide to move on to another book.  Just thumbing through the book, heavy cream and butter is found in many of the recipes.  While I have nothing against heavy cream, it is way too fond of me and it shows!
